The Design Studio Process:
Step 1. The Basics:
Provide the event date, location information (pickup or delivery), and an estimated guest count. We’ll confirm availability and share a starting estimate based on size and style. Custom celebration cakes begin at $250. Wedding cake commissions begin at $500 (before delivery). Dates are not reserved and design work does not begin until a retainer is received.
Step 2. Theme + Design Direction:
Send inspiration photos, a color story, and 2–5 reference images to help us understand your vision. These may include invitations, florals, venue details, or other visual cues. To keep communication streamlined, we’ll confirm key details primarily via email and consolidate questions into a single message whenever possible.
Step 3. Tasting + Consultation (Weddings):
Although in-person tastings aren’t available, we offer a wedding tasting box for two for pickup in San Francisco (and delivery within the greater Bay Area, as available). Tasting boxes are $80 and non-refundable. If you book your wedding cake and submit a retainer within 14 days of your tasting pickup/delivery, the tasting fee will be applied to your final balance for wedding cake orders of $500+ (before delivery). A brief video consultation is available by request for wedding cake clients.
Step 4. Design Studio (After Booking):
Once your date is secured, we’ll develop a design concept aligned with your references and the studio’s style. Your commission includes one design concept and one round of revisions. Additional revisions, added elements, or significant design changes may require additional design time and will be quoted before proceeding.
Step 5. Place Order + Payment:
To reserve your date, we require a 50% non-refundable retainer. Remaining balance is due 30 days prior to the event date. Retainers may be transferred one time to a future date with at least 14 days’ notice, subject to availability. Further details are outlined in the contract agreement.
